“Free to choose whether to migrate or to stay”

Here in the Philippines, the fact that many people are forced to migrate or to seek overseas employment because of economic reasons or poverty, the Church has to express her concern for the OFWs and all the people on the move; to pray for them as they face many challenges away from the loving support of their family and the comfort familiar surroundings.

37th National Migrants’ Sunday 109th World Day of Migrants and Refugees September 24, 2023

Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development has announced the theme of the 109th World Day of Migrants and Refugees chosen by Pope Francis “Free to choose whether to migrate or to stay” focusing on the right to choose migration as an option for livelihood and personal development. The theme is reminding us that the right not to migrate precedes that of migrating. The right “to be able to remain in one’s homeland” is broader than the right to migrate.
